UPD: We just had an issue with shower leak and REMCO handled it great. I’ve submitted maintenance request on Sunday night and I’ve heard back from Jeff (REMCO) on Monday morning. They arranged plumbing company to come and fix everything on the next day. Also, additional communication and approval from owner was required on day of repair and I think they handled it within an hour.
March 2024: Our experience with Remco is great so far. We just moved in and everything went smooth and easy. Especially Yvette and Jeff are nice and professional

REMCO is by far the worst rental property management company. As someone who has experience renting out property I am appalled by the fraudulent and illegal actions taken by this company.

I was renting a property that was managed by REMCO and had a horrible experience getting my security deposit back. They completely dishonored everything that was agreed upon during the move out inspection and decided to deduct numerous bogus charges. They even have the nerve to deduct numerous $125 charges which is the CA legal limit in which receipts are not required. Since REMCO provided no proof of work for any of their claimed charges I requested additional documentation in which they are legally required to respond within 14 days. Not surprisingly they failed to respond on time and did not provide any of the requested evidence.

Luckily I have access to legal services and had an attorney send a demand letter to pay up or face legal consequences. All of a sudden REMCO's owner, Drew, suddenly starts cooperating. Based on prior Yelp reviews it appears this is a tactic REMCO does often regarding security deposits. Basically they know that they can get away with fraudulent security deposit charges until they are legally threatened. In the end REMCO wasn't even able to produce the evidence for their bogus charges and returned the agreed upon money.

My advice to other tenants in a similar situation is to know your legal rights and read the CA tenants guide. A lot of law firms will also provide free consultation as well.

We've rented a REMCO property for a year and had a genuinely positive experience. Good communication, not many issues with the property, but when maintenance was needed it was sent quickly and always got the issue fixed. Many critical reviews of REMCO seem to be from rejected applicants, but speaking as a tenant we never had an issue with REMCO, and would certainly rent from them again. Basically if you're looking at reviews to see if they're good and legit -- they are, and I highly recommend applying to their properties.

Bear with me, this review is long but worth the read. My partner and I have run into a sticky situation with the unit we moved into. We also have decided to terminate our lease. We moved in the 800 Rose Avenue property for reference.

The woman who lived there prior to us had lived for 20 years (we were told by management). The unit was not properly cleaned or maintained after her leaving and probably during her time living in that unit. Here are a list of things that went wrong within the first 2 weeks of move in.

1) Roaches, we saw many roaches within the first couple days of living here and we kept reaching out to Jeff (who was great) but the vendors that he was contacting were not reliable for Pest Control. He has since switched vendors.

2) The gas heater did not work, even now. We got a temporary fix to the gas heater but haven't heard anything about a permanent fix.

3) An internet provider came out and was having a hard time connecting our WiFi, only to find out that there was wire damage due to mice/rats and that in our attic there were several mice traps.

There are more things, but I'll spare you from reading a whole essay. These things listed are in violation of California codes, which is why we chose to terminate the lease.

I do want to say, Aaron in the leasing office is amazing. He swiftly heard our concerns, spoke to his manager, and we are able to terminate our lease with ease. I appreciate Aaron and the REMCO staff in the office for listening to us and working with us.

To be honest, we're super sad this didn't work out and I think if they had better vendors and took their time cleaning/updating their units this would have been a happier review.

Extremely unprofessional and badly ran company. Was told I was approved for an apartment on Friday and when I called back on Monday I was told to sit tight as they are reviewing other applicants. I then was told I was not selected. I am pretty sure it is because I have an emotional support animal. I would avoid any rental listing from this company as the other reviews and experiences from other people have been similar.

I lived her back in 2015. Layout of my unit was nice. Management is a slumlord doesn’t want to fix anything in the building and force you to come out of pocket. Cameras didn’t work in my building and my car was broken into inside underground parking. Landscaping is filthy. Bed bug issue throughout the building. I had to report them to health inspector. I hope they made changes as a company.

This place is a SCAM.I definitely see why they have a two star. I tried to apply for an apartment and dropped my deposit of 1600 on the apartment and signed the lease and they ended up giving my apartment to someone else.The office Manager Evelina has ZERO communication skill and needs to be demoted or retrained.She consistently lied about processing my paperwork multiple times, I’ve reached out to her multiple times to check on the status not once did she update me .Now I have less than 5 days to be out of my apartment because I kept getting extensions due to her procrastination/lying and I’ve exceeded the max. I have a 1 year old daughter that is chronically ill and on top of having a daughter that needs extra care I struggled and overcame Covid-19 to deal with getting kicked out and not enough time to look for an apartment.ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!We are in a pandemic and they did this to someone. Not once did they offer to help me find another apartment or try rectifying the situation.Evelina had the receptionist call me and tell me to pick up my deposit because she was too scared to admit she doesn’t know what she’s doing.Please do not come here if you are looking for property. This company is disgusting and I hope they don’t get anymore business and gets shut down.0 Star f
