Honestly could not recommend a better property management group than shook. They are so easy to work with from the application process, move in and so on. They have the fastest maintenance team and after hours number for emergencies will make sure a tech is contacted and reaches out to you fast! My heat went out twice and I was brought heaters from their office in under a hour. Ethan is the maintenance manager and I believe I met his boss they are both great! Their VP of operations Ben is awesome and really knows how to run a business like this and make tenants feel heard out! Jessica and Keely are amazing Jessica was who showed me my unit and was such a great vibe! Our building will no longer be ran by shook and so many of us were sad hearing the news but I will forever recommend this company to anyone looking for a place in the Lafayette/west Lafayette area! My experience of almost 2 years with them was perfect. Thank you for everything!

update to add: I sent MULTIPLE emails regarding previous damages from tenant AND included dates with NO RESPONSE. Shook charged me for each and every damage that me and my partner did not even do! Kept entire deposit and were very rude over the phone about it. Fought with these people for over 3 months regarding my deposit and finally they were fed up with me and kept all $1200. Got an itemized list of damages taking up entire deposit that were in unit (unfixed) from before we moved in!!! Liars, thief's, will do anything for money, outrageous rent, etc!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! Look at these reviews.. more bad than good. I know rentals are hard to come by but do not give these people your money!

Living in my unit was great. The staff at shook that answer phones are wonderful! My downside is communication and not only has it taken almost 3 months to get my deposit back after being told 45 days, but i have emailed multiple times with NO response, called with barely any update or information. I called again for the 5th time yesterday and had to ask about an update to learn that it had been completed and i was never informed this is bullshit, i shouldn’t have to reach out myself multiple times. i also still haven’t gotten an email they said they’d send yesterday too! They don’t want to give you your money back & communication is absolutely awful.

Regarding to your reply. Unfortunately that's not true (at all). You did not tell my to apply in the website (at all).You tell me you will let me know the response on the same day and you did not. I sent you email earlier and clarifies that I'm happy to pay the full rental also.

We've lived at the Press for over a year now...Shook Property Management has been so great through it all. They are always prompt to answer questions, keep the building very clean, and fix maintenance requests relatively quickly. When there was a flood in the apartment, they paid for a hotel room for a few nights and communicated effectively throughout the clean-up process.

We have worked with many many PMs, and working with Ben and Shook is by far the best experience we’ve ever had. Managing properties (and property managers) from out of state is very challenging, especially with work and little kids. Ben has made it extremely easy for us to be hands-off with our existing properties and has made the purchase of each property very easy for us. We've decided to continue to focus on investing in the Lafayette area because our experience with him has been so positive. Ben is consistently proactive and mitigates things before they become issues, he's incredibly responsive, and always has our best interest in mind. We've been very happy with Ben and our experience with Shook PM.

This property management will blow up your phone and email if they are needing to update anything or need to know simple things. However, if anything is needed of them, no one responds. When it came to renewing the lease, did not hear anything from anyone. Finally got in contact with someone, just for them to say that they having been contacting me and it's my fault that I have not told them whether the lease was being renewed or not. Jackie never returns phone calls or emails. Needless to say the lease did not get renewed. They also did not respond to any referrals needed to get another place through a different property management. Jackie is very unprofessional, and will do anything to put anyone at fault but herself. Do not rent from this property management.

I've lived at The Press for almost 2 years now, and I love it! I think there are ups and downs with any apartment-living situation (neighbor issues and such) since you're sharing the space with so many others, but the Shook management team has always been responsive and worked to get issues remedied quickly. And The Press building itself is FANTASTIC - so historic, solid bones, the quietest apartment I've ever lived in (I can't hear my neighbors at ALL when I'm in my apartment, other than a little hall noise). The location, right in the heart of downtown, is excellent. A perfect place for grad students or other professionals looking for quiet and privacy but also accessibility to all that downtown has to offer.

I was with shook for almost 3 years and they are some of the nicest people the whole maintenance crew was always on time and kind when anything went out or was broken they did seasonal expectations of the apartment to make sure we were safe and gave great notice when they needed entry to our apartment the owner of my apartment now has a new property manager but I definitely would rent from shook again in the future
