Update: Feel free to read the original below, but needed to update that it got WORSE from here. The buyers were not actually qualified for as much as the offer and we ended up closing for 40k under appraised with a different lender just to get out of this situation. We had a cash offer for that amount the same day as the Buyer’s not legitimate offer but it took 5 months to find that out and then close. End of update.

I have worked with many of the loan officers here when I was a realtor and found them all to be talented and capable loan officers. My top three reccomended are all here at Movement, in fact!

When we sold our home this summer I was excited to see who the loan officer was and I had every confidence that our loan would be processed on time. This was the biggest and most important factor in our accepting the offer, as we are living in temporary shelter why we await the proceeds of the sale to come through. The Closing date was to by August 19th.

Yesterday I was informed that the appraisal was not ordered until AFTER that date. I know my Realtor was actively asking about the appraisal prior to that, and her inquiry was apparently ignored. I had begun to suspect we were not going to close on time at the beginning of August due to knowing the appraisal had not been done yet and was very concerned, but I trusted the loan officer to do what needed to be done. Now we have been advised we will need to extend closing to September 16th, almost a full month later than our expected closing. This is going to cause a hardship on our family that will be acutely felt all winter as we our now unable to purchase the equipment and building materials prior to our house raising party that was scheduled for September 5th. We will be very, very lucky if any of it is still available upon the closing of our home and even luckier if we are able to raise our home prior to the snow flying here in the further North of Kenai.

Looks like this family of 4 gets to winter camp. So scared.
