I was a client of GK for many years, happy with the performance of my portfolio, etc. Looking back my financial planning needs were very straightforward and simple, so they didn’t require a lot of interaction or support.

When I started working for myself and required additional support, that’s when things completely fell apart.

GK made internal mistakes and submitted duplicate paperwork (one without my signature!) to the IRS, which took me literally years to figure out and resolve— to the tune of $40k. Imagine getting a note of balance owed for an incorrect amount of $, it’s very stressful.

Had they helped to resolve the issue with the IRS and not left it up to me and my attorney, I likely would not review them in this way or filed a formal complaint, but they didn’t. My financial planner originally told me “I was mistaken”. Literally I spent over 50+ hours figuring out what happened and resolving this issue on my own—- this included getting copies of documents, faxing them while on the phone with the IRS, following up, resending documents and continuing to follow-up. Oh yeah and I had to start making payments on a balance not owed, too.

Either they are very disorganized with their paperwork or they pay less careful attention to particular clients. Either isn’t great when you’re trusting someone to provide financial guidance.

I’ll leave you with this additional bit of info — my planner told me this happened because I had “so” many transactions. I think I may have had six total over two years. That seems pretty manageable to me.

Ross Gerber is driven more by ideology than he is the financial success of his clients, judging by his wildly partisan statements and poor investment decisions. If you enjoy watching your assets decline, feeling smugly superior and believing nonsense, this is the place for you!

I came for a 1 time financial plan with some very simple questions. I guess if you're not a high value client or don't let them manage your assets, then you aren't worth their time.

My advisor failed to follow-up on sending the promised deliverables for both meetings, I had to reach out and ask. There were typos and they clearly ignored certain parts of my financial situation. I don't think I will be going back for future planning needs.

I'm specifically writing this review for Steven Evensen at Gerber Kawasaki!

I'll be honest, as a real estate investor I'm not a fan of most financial advisors. :/ They really seem to be one-trick ponies (invest in the stock market and I'll just take a percentage, no prob!).

But Steven is different - he actually listens to people's goals, and helps them reach it. If it means investing in rental properties, or saving to buy their first home, or aiming for FIRE (early retirement), he's game!

I've been lucky enough to help some of his clients achieve their real estate goals, and Steven was along for the ride advising and helping make it happen. Also, his clients are SUPER nice and cool, which is a reflection of who he attracts.

As a real estate broker I've happily referred my clients to him, knowing that they'll be taken care of by someone honest. Look forward to more collaborations with Steven as he continues to grow!

I have worked with GK for more than 10 years. One thing that I really appreciate is that I’ve had the same financial advisor throughout, which shows their commitment to their clients. Bryan Miranda is always available to answer my questions and responds same day. Recently, I realized I had lost track of an old 401k. Ross Gerber is a morally bankrupt individual with zero ethics. Please be careful investing with this company. If integrity, and morality are qualities you look for in a person who wants to handle your hard earned money , keep going. Those qualities are not found at Gerber Kawasaki.
