On January 12, 2023 we experienced significant damage to our home and property due to the EF4 tornado that struck Marbury. We relocated to Alabama from Chicago a few years prior to the tornado having been a State Farm customer for many years in Illinois as well. No one can prepare you for what it feels like when a crisis of this magnitude happens. We had absolutely no idea what steps to take first, second, etc. However, State Farm was beside us each step of the way. We could not have asked for more thoughtful, conscientious and efficient interactions with State Farm every step of the way. The first thing my husband said was, "I just pray they make us whole". And I can assure you that everything that was insured was covered and we were reimbursed in a timely fashion. We were made whole and the incident was a bit less painful because of the way State Farm handled our claim.

My roof was damaged by a hailstorm on 5/9/2024 and State Farm’s first damage estimate only included paying for replacing half my roof. All three contractors who provided an estimate for repair indicated there was damage to all of my roof and the damage that the inspector classified as “cosmetic” would still decrease the life of the roof.

One contractor suggested I ask for a re-inspection by a different inspector to get a second opinion. State Farm’s claim representative indicated a re-inspection would only be approved if we submitted photos showing the damage the inspector missed.

My contractor submitted photos of the damage on two occasions, but they were rejected as being insufficient to justify a re-inspection. It wasn’t clear what photos would be satisfactory.

I contacted my agent, Mandi Fortner, expressed my dissatisfaction with how I’ve been treated and asked for her help in scheduling a re-inspection. She elevated my concerns up several levels in the claims hierarchy and ultimately was successful in obtaining a re-inspection.

The re-inspection resulted in State Farm paying for my full roof replacement.

I do not believe I would have been successful in obtaining a re-inspection without her intervention. While she certainly works for State Farm, her primary concern in my interaction with her, was that I be treated fairly by her Company.

Very misleading with their quotes, auto quote went from $285 a month to $657 a month and that's with a $177 safe driving discount. After a month later they continue to draw $622 a month.
