The food bank is great. It helps a lot of people who have no other options. The reason for one star is the manager, Rob S. He is very condescending and rude to the volunteers. During one of the Monday unloadings of the truck, he was yelling, possibly to the point of screaming, at volunteers. Quite a few of the volunteers made comments about his behavior. I would hate for all the volunteers to quit, as this is a valuable service to the community. I was a volunteer, and I will not be going back because of how I was treated. **This review was posted on the food banks Facebook page but was deleted**

Pretty much the worst food bank on this continent. I can fully understand why St. Mary's cut them off. For two elderly folks we got: 2-12 ounce cans of water, one loaf of expired bread, 3 6 ounce bottles of expired fruit juice, 1 six pack of expired peach cups (they were fermenting), 1- 2 year old package of girl scout cookies, and 2 single serve packs of cooked chicken. No wonder so many people here hold hungry signs...the staff is great. What they hand out is questionable at best.

Apparently they will only give out food once a week.

Usually we get a dozen eggs to feed four people. Then a couple mini pillow cases (not making this up) of EXPIRED garbage…. Baby food, propel waters, a row of saltines, an odd amount of small Mexican pastries (usually 6 for 4 people), spaghetti (if we are lucky they throw in some watered down sauce), we rarely get milk.

Definitely can not survive off of this stuff. You will starve. If you can manage to get 4 people’s worth of food just to yourself, you will barely be able to eat 7 meals a week. Forget about breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tell your wife and kids to forget about breakfast and lunch. Dinner only.

This town basically doesn’t have any jobs during the summer so we were really dependent on this food bank. Especially after our food stamps got cut off for working a single month in this town and we can’t get them turned on because 1. We can’t find work, and 2. We can’t afford a PO Box, because this town does not deliver USPS, and 3. Can’t afford to go to the “local” DES office in Parker, 40 minutes away. So kinda screwed financially until October when the “season” starts and all the tourists come in for rocks and RVs and there will be LOADs of under the table, illegal, pay at $10/hour… (standard for this town)... BUT even less food at the food bank….

We are trapped here and can’t leave.

They really need to get out and go source out other food banks or businesses who would be willing to donate. Then they can just go buy the food at a local store to supply the food bank at a discount or something.

And make it so you can go in twice a week if needed.

Otherwise turning me away and having me go home to tell my wife and kids we won’t have any food till next Tuesday is pretty screwed up. It’s Thursday.

Pathetic town. Pathetic excuse for a food bank.
-Nice people though. Just a bunch of older local volunteers.

Very friendly and helpful with questions. It's hit or miss on what you get there. But it is a weekly food bank.

Blessing for the community and traveler's that come and stay during the winter month's. My experiences with the intake staff and those that put the food into my vehicle have all been pleasant as well. Very friendly.

I was there making donations. They have a great group of volunteers. Carol's Closet has clothing and other items available. It's not just food.
