Since 2000, GR, a division of the good umbrella group.
This is a bucket list stop, heading home to the Gulf Coast, from a Creed, 7dust concert, Durant, Oklahoma in Choctaw Nation! Casino and Resort. It was a blistering reunion concert tour, I may add!!
The reason GR is on my bucket list, to be here today, is because it is an Alice Cooper superfan's must-see! Because of the co-owner Chris Penns' connection as a friend of that one and only OG ACB bassist, Dennis Dunaway, and his close friendship with Alice of the Alice Cooper Band!!

So, as a long-time super fan, as Chris Penn is known, I mulled over some of his memorabilia in-store several times in late December of 2024.
His rare personal posters hanging up instore, the store's many Alice LP vinyls in the bins. Although the three store owners lacked any 70s rarities in-store, like white label promos of the band's hits on 45r.p.m. with those classic picture sleeves or an LP record with a promo dj time strip on its jacket cover for sale , There were no Frank Zappa produced Bizarre LP's, i.e.,Pretties for You and Easy Action. Alice Cooper's #1 and #2. Both staples, according to Dennis, esp. Pretties. I have them both on CD but am seeking that rare WLP Bizzare label release or both of these gems on vinyl in very good shape is a must-have!

And the good people of GR also removed some of that infamous pink Astroturf from their #2 stores' big stage, that the OG ACB stood on, during the recording of the documentary, Live from the Astroturf, Alice Cooper, at their second Good Records' location in October, for that 2015 OG, Alice Cooper band's Reunion Show!!!

I did find an Alice Cooper bucket list LP vinyl record from co-owner Chris Penns' store. A very limited Astroturf edition #123/1000 of Live from the Astroturf, Alice Cooper in gold colored vinyl. For me, anything rare as this Limited & Numbered GOOD AS GOLD ASTROTURF EDITION vinyl for today's loot is another must-have!

And that title they came up for that live album is as mysterious as 'A Division of The Good Umbrella!'

Somebody may wonder that AC himself invited Chris, Tim, or Julie the stores' owners to a meeting of the minds on the inspiration behind that title. It reminds me of Bob Ezrin and Shep Gordon's brainstorming best days, the best-known bright ideas behind the ACB's early marketing strategies for their greatest success of vinyl sales ever, the eight track tapes sold and all those cassette tape sales worldwide.

Kudos to the nice guy musician there on a Sunday in late December 29th, who told me a couple of great stories behind the scenes of that recording. I didn't get his name. The stories about his son and him, participating with balloons and panties, with that infamous reunion concert in 2015 at Good Records. And the top secret Secrets' word about Alice Cooper's Astroturf live entrance for that concert into the store and all of its preparation work done, for the warehouse-store back entrance into the second Good Records' location on 1808 Lower Greenville Avenue in Dallas. All for the sake of a famous rock stars' anonymity. Great hosts never cease in Texas.

I love a good mystery tale and all that folklore biz behind it! Five Stars are My Stars as Alice screams!!!!!

This store is excellent. So kind and willing to order if they don't have it. The owner has recently had an extreme life changing accident and if you're looking for LPs, please buy here and help support him and the community to keep this awesome store in business.

Definitely one of the best record stores I've been to in terms of indie music, new stuff, hard to find artists. Very well organized, and super nice staff. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

Called beforehand on details of a meet and greet with Charley Crockett and was lied to about details of the event/VIP access. Employees on shift didn’t even want to hear us out or attempt to make it right however I will say she wasn’t the one we talked to over the phone as it was a man. Drove from out of town to do this. Seems like a decent vinyl store, just upset with how they handled this event.

This legendary record store is a must visit for out of towner’s and locals alike. The bar next door has the same owners. Newer location is smaller than the old shop, but they have records you won’t see in store anywhere else around.

Good Records and Chris Penn put me back in touch with my musical youth. I walked into the store one day and instantly was transported back to the time when a record store was a community gathering spot. Seeing all that vinyl in all those boxes and the crates with the Good Records, logo on them made me want to listen to a record more than ever. My luck continued in that they also sold Bluetooth turntables and I had recently purchased Bluetooth speakers, so a match was made and I started expanding my collection of vinyl records. Chris had set me up with the 50th anniversary edition of Pink Floyd's dark side of the Moon. I have set that aside to listen to it on my 68th birthday which will be 50 years from the first time I heard the album. Chris thought I was silly but I invited him to attend the listening and so it sits in my life's diorama, an aquarium converted to holding my knick-knacks, until the day I turn 68.
Chris had made fun with me about a purchase of a Beatles collections edition and today I purchased that in honor of Chris's memory.
To everyone at Good Records. Thank you for being there for me and bringing music back into my life as I experienced it early in my youth.

I purchased the Tripping Daisy elastic firecracker LP online and just received it the other day, it’s amazing. Some dude named Tim wrote his name on the front! Looking forward to a visit next time in the area

I went here to get pillows from a woman named Stella. Stella failed to give the front desk lady any details about the transaction. I was told to go up and ask about said pillows and the super rude woman at the front counter rolled her eyes at me and had no idea what I was talking about. She then called the aforementioned Stella and retrieved the pillows. Not a single customer in the store and it seemed she wanted to shoo me out the entire time and go back to listening to her headphones. Even while I was browsing the selection waiting to hear from the Stella lady she never attempted to upsell or really try to do anything. If you come, come at a time when she isn’t there. Seems like she’s the average do-nothing day shift type.

Cool historical record store, good vibes, descent stock. Funky stage in the back, maybe bands can play here? Wish they'd let mine!
