I went in to take a look at the dogs and came out with my heart. His name was Patrick and he had been returned twice. He was a large puppy Great Dane German Shepherd mix with a beautiful demeanor. I’m so happy to have met him at this facility. He make me smile every day. We now call him Zeus!

We adopted Cami from here. I love my Velcro doggo! She is the best! The staff here was so nice and helpful. The dog we came to look at had already been adopted after talking to us for a few moments, they felt that they had some dogs that would fit what we were looking for and she was perfect!

I was very hesitant to adopt as it was owning my first dog, however the pictures of the animals available online were a true depiction of our new fur baby, Major the German Shepherd. He was so excited to see the staff as he would bark and jump for joy, as it was an indication of how well his relationship was with the staff. I am so pleased with how our process went with adopting him and I am truly humbled and excited with our new baby. I am glad we were able to help bring him home as he was there for quite some time and now he has a forever home with my family and I. Please go adopt, there are more beautiful and kind fur babies waiting on their new forever home!

Douglas County is lucky to have the caring people we have working at our animal shelter. I have been looking to adopt a dog ever since our family dog passed away last year and, after much consideration, I picked out a dog on line. Due to family issues requiring us to travel quite a bit we had to put off the adoption for several months but during this time I contacted the shelter and started the process. I emailed them with many questions and received a thorough and thoughtful email in reply from Piper, the Lead Kennel Tech. Over the next month or two we exchanged emails and I always got the same excellent replies from her. She always took the time to address all of my concerns and answer all of my questions. Last week we finally completed the adoption and took or new family member home. They made the process as simple and affordable as possible and I was very impressed with how much they genuinely cared about the animals. We are fortunate to have such caring people at our shelter and so are the animals there.
