The review title to this bank is quite simple really, it should begin with a statement such as "how NOT to run your business". I understand everyone has bad days and we are all entitled to feel how we feel, but when you run a business (any kind of business), you should always be aware of how you are making your customers feel. This stood out to me because I was recently looking to start a new account with a personable bank, as I've grown tired of impersonal, corporate giants who only make you a number, and not a very important one at that. As I was making my way through the banking options of Winfield, I thought to myself, the first bank that I go to that even attempts to make me feel valued on any kind of level, I'll hand over my check and start banking with them. Let me start by saying, this bank did the complete opposite. The teller may indeed have been having a terrible day. I was willing to understand and accept that after maybe one attempt of being dismissed and made to feel as if my business was worthless to him, but after the second time, there was no excuse. This was the ending of my long, drawn-out terrible day as well so on top of that, I was told at the drive-thru window that my check could not be cashed, as I did not hold an account there (this is completely understandable). The man did not even give me a chance to tell him that I would like to open an account with this check and deposit it so I would like to get a little information to become a new customer with them and open a checking and savings account. I was taken aback when the check I had handed him along with my ID, was thrown back at me as he said, "You don't have an account here so I cannot help you", all before I even got to mention my whole point of handing him my check and ID was to open a new account with them. Needless to say, I was a little shocked at how harsh the teller was and I'm a little sad that I wasn't able to get his name because that, in essence, is how you LOSE business, not how you keep it. I'm thankful I saw the true colors of their customer service care through this incident because customer service today is one of those rare traits that a business should put value in, if you do want a successful business, that is. If not, by all means, do as this man did and make your customers feel dismissed, invalued, and as if their business is completely and utterlessly worthless to you. Thanks, First State Bank of the South, for making me aware of just how much value you put into your business's customer service and care BEFORE I got a chance to open an account with you, for that I am truly grateful!

This bank is stuck in ancient times. The manager of the winfield branch is rude and unprofessional. Never once had a good experience here. They do not have it together. They cannot process cash timley for simple cashiers check transactions. Highly do NOT recommend this bank for anyone other than a human over the age of 65.
