The Granger offices are located in the metropolitan hospital health park. The owner holds a "reserved" parking space at the front of the building. Today, an elderly gentleman parked in the reserved spot when he went in to the optometrist office. Granger ordered his maintenance man to place a boot on the man's car, preventing him from leaving. When the man came out he was extorted for $100 to have the boot removed. The man had no money to pay the Granger fine. Local health care workers took up a collection and paid it for him. Think twice about ever doing business with a man who so deeply lacks human compassion that he holds the elderly hostage to prove a point. Shame on you, Gary Granger, shame on you.

I, too, went to the Ophthalmology office. Since most, if not all, of the parking spaces were taken, I quickly pulled into the next open one. I was running late, didn't even see the sign. When I came out, there was a boot on the car's wheel (this vehicle had a handicap plate). Then I saw the sign. I went up to the office to inquire why, and was told that it was the owners parking spot. I said why doesn't he park where everybody in his company parts? The gentleman did not give me a reasonable answer. I used to own a business, and I parked as far away as from the door as I could. It was my belief that the close spot should be for customers and clients. Obviously this is not their attitude.

He told me that it would be $25 to get the boot removed. I gave him my credit card, he said they only accepted cash. Since I did not have enough cash, I had to walk across Health drive with dilated eyes. Not a fun thing to do when you're squinting. Also, since the ATM wasn't my bank, it actually cost me $2.50 more. When I asked for receipt, all I got was attitude. I asked him to write out a receipt on letterhead, and his reply was, "I don't have time for that!". He poorly wrote a receipt on a sticky note. Not very professional! I can't help but think that if I hadn't asked for a receipt, the money would have landed in somebody's pocket, not their petty cash.

I have since called both Metro Health and Gary Granger's assistant. I've not received any return phone calls. To be fair, it's only been about two hours.

My question is why would you take any money from a retiree getting Social Security? Doesn't your multimillion-dollar company make enough on its own?

Then I saw where you charged some elderly man, and I'm not elderly, $100. Are you absolutely nuts? I did see where you return the money. I do expect to get my $27.50 returned.

UPDATE: 10/9/19 I've made three phone calls to Gary Granger's Chief of Staff / secretary. As of this day, I have not received any reply. I did receive a phone call from Metro Ophthalmology apologizing for this, and they stated they will be seeing I get my money back.

I would suggest anybody experiencing the same problem contact the office manager Metro Ophthalmology. You may want to post a review also. This is totally unacceptable behavior on the part of a "philanthropist" and board member at Ferris State University #ferrisstate.

UPDATE: 11/3/18 NO RESPONSE FROM GRANGER GROUP. I did receive a $30 gift card from Metro Ophthalmology and apology for my inconvenience. Thank you very much, and good luck with your uncaring landlord. I guess when you deal with multimillion projects, the "little people" don't matter, do they. Future partners should be aware....

On behalf of all of the residents and family members that have suffered since Gary Granger decided to be a part of senior living, a sincere thank you is in order for getting out of the business. You have no business here. My mother was one of your first residents, and all you've done is break promises and flaunt your money. The turnover in EDs is insane. Just waiting for you to do it again so we can call the state. We've read the reports and know if you continue to have management turnover you will be shut down. Shame on you for not caring about the hard working teams that work 24/7 to help our parents. You could never do what they do, you just care about money in your pocket and not the lives of those living in your buildings. I used to pray for you that you'd come to your senses. Now I just cannot wait to see what God has in store for you as you get older.

Having issues collecting payment for services rendered almost 6 months ago. Very hard to get a response from anyone that is in a position to do something about this. When I did actually get to speak with someone (once) or get the occasional email response, I was given many excuses... "I need an invoice copy." "Checks will print next week." "The check will be signed next Tuesday." Then it changed to "There wasn't a PO# so it's taking longer," when indeed there was a PO# issued and was printed on every invoice they ever received. A/P contact recently quit, I would assume this was due to people like me that call and email non-stop trying to get payment for legitimate services rendered... or maybe because there was no money to pay her?
