I have been banking at this location for about 35 years. I have a free checking account or at least I thought I did until this month. I have worked for the school system for over 20 years and have always received my December check in the middle of the month instead of the last of the month. This month I was charged a fee. It took several days of calling during my lunch to finally get a person to answer so I could inquire about the ten dollar fee. To make a long story short I was passed from one person to another and ended up talking to the manager, Vicki Marbut, at the Fairburn Road location. I was told because I got paid in the middle of December and not again until January 30th I was charged a fee. I was considering changing my billing cycle to avoid future fees. I was told those dates varied depending on holidays, etc. I was told there was no way to avoid this EVER unless my December deposit came later in the month during that PARTICULAR month. I've never been charged a fee at this bank in over 20 years that I've been teaching. Ms. Marbut informed me how lucky I was to get my December check early. She offered no suggestions to avoid this in the future except joining a different plan that cost 10 dollars a month. I asked was there someone else I could talk to and she informed me there was no one else. I always thought everyone had a boss but apparently she is the top person to talk to if you have a problem. I told her I could take my account to another bank but she offered no solution. It is now the principle of the situation that compels me to create a post. In fact, this is my first ever post. I hung up the phone and called the North Georgia Bank. To my surprise someone named Meagan immediately answered and talked to me about their FREE checking and continued to share even after the bank closed. The reason I've stayed with this bank instead of leaving is because of all the wonderful people that work there. These include Melanie, Nealy, Shanda, Janet, Peggy, and a few others.
