I have used Bo Nichols and his team at Nichols Real Estate a few times over the years, and they have always been knowledgeable, honest, fair, helpful, and just great to work with. Besides being a repeat customer (as a buyer and seller), I have also recommended Nichols Real Estate to friends. You won’t find a nicer, more knowledgeable agent in this area than Bo.

I rented a house in Lake Forest using Brennan Chamblee through Prudential Nichols.

A very nice guy to visit with, but had way too much going on and consistently fell through on his obligations. The carpet was replaced right before we moved in, however a section in the upstairs landing was missing with exposed wood and tack strips when we moved in. It took almost 6 months to get the carpet to cover the area because Brennan was trying to save money for the owner of the house. If my husband and I had had children, this would have been completely unacceptable. Exposed tack strips? Not okay. We kept asking and kept getting promised the moon...and like I said, it took SIX MONTHS to get carpet put in.

We also didn't get a copy of the lease (after asking several times) for almost 6 months also.

The oven was probably at least 20-30 years old and the eyes literally wouldn't sit on straight. They only heated up partway. When we asked before we moved in we were told nothing could be done if it still turned on. Within the year I was there, it went out. When they finally called someone to check it out to see if it could be repaired, they HAD to replace it because the oven was so old there were no longer parts available to fix it.

The fence boards in the backyard were dry rotted and barely nailed on, so our dog literally walked up, stuck her nose under the board and they fell off. Brennan and the owner of the house were notified. It took several weeks for them to finally replace HALF of the rotten boards. My dog ended up getting out multiple times where I had to pay animal control every time to let her out because the fence boards were in such poor repair...and when they did come to replace it, only replaced half.

Multiple half-way repairs were done around the house, like the A/C filter vent wasn't an actual rectangle. So a filter had to be cut (yes completely ruining the integrity of the filter) on one side to fit in.

Our plumbing backed up into the toilet, yes the sewage came up through the bathtub and we could not use the toilets. Brennan was called and we were unable to get ahold of him. We went ahead and called Roto Rooter and were charged $300. When we tried to stop the check when we realized we didn't need to be paying for their plumbing as a rental, I was sent a debt collection notice. Brennan promised verbally multiple times that he would take care of it. In the end, he checked the lease and said I should have notified him first, and that it was not his responsibility.

Brennan did act pretty promptly when the inside of the house flooded last summer and they had to call in someone to dry out the carpet and check for mold. You would think so, considering the health risks.

So all I'm saying is have low expectations, and you'll be fine if you go through Brennan at Prudential Nichols.

They're lousy- a bunch of 60 somethings trying to sell old outdated overpriced overrated ratty properties built in the 1960s and 70s for premium prices. they carry on as if red neck daphne and spahish fort is Malibu beach-when it is NOT. People don't consider how low lying most of daphne is-ONE DIRECT Hit by a hurricane and most of the place will be flooded and uninhabitable. You'd be better off just moving back north to the well established cities. Fairhope is nice but it's a retirement area and too far from the interstate and good stores/food to be a viable life/work option.
