My 13 year old son was there with a broken arm and the medical staff were amazing. They were busy but we still got in and out in a decent amount of time. The dr and nurses were extremely kind and were very pleasant to work with. They were able to put a splint on his arm and gave us recommendations for an orthopedic dr. We were scared and worried going into the hospital and we left feeling much better due to the excellent care that we received.

My 3 year old suffered a fever for 2.5 days. I gave her acetametaphin every 4 to 6 hours to lower the fever and help with pain. After her fever broke, she complained in the middle of the night that her neck hurt. The next morning, she said her neck felt better. Later that morning, she complained that her right eye hurt badly. She was wailing and in a lot of pain. After I checked her eye carefully for issues or pink eye, I was stumped. She said repeatedly that “the dots hurt”. She then said could see “dots” that were brown when she looked around and when she closed her eye.

I was concerned about the fever affecting her eye, so she went to the Emergency Room at put co hospital. Many articles from different hospitals explained that a fever can cause inflammation that affects the retina of the eye in irreversible ways, so to me, this qualified as a potentially emergency situation.

To Put Co Emergency Room she went.

After information was given about the fever, neck ache, and eye pain, the doctor explained that because my daughter is “only 3, she can’t actually tell us if she sees ‘floaters’ in her eye.” He invalidated her account of her own health immediately. How is this helpful or professional?

Then after running a test that he never gave the results of, he admitted that if there was something wrong with her eye, he was not capable of examining her eye in a way that would determine if a problem existed at all, because he did not have the right tools. “Take her to Riley,” was his advice. He also insisted on drawing her blood to check and see if this was a life-threatening illness. He said since she had suffered a fever, bloodwork would help determine if she had a virus. Her fever was nonexistent at this point, so I chose not to have her blood drawn. His response to being told we did not wish to have blood drawn was to call my husband “rude”. My husband was not rude in tone or the words he chose when he disagreed.

The invalidation of a child’s pain and explanation of the details of that pain to be “not possible” is disgusting. Calling a parent “rude” for calmly disagreeing with the necessity of a procedure is awful.

This hospital has a terrible reputation for many reasons just like this. The immunization clinic is wonderful, but any emergency situation should be taken elsewhere. If you have children and can afford the time to drive, go elsewhere.

Your children’s pain and your concerns as a parent will not be taken seriously at Putnam County Hospital. This hospital does not attract quality practitioners.

My grandmother had a three day stay at Putnam County Hospital and we couldn’t be happier with her care. It started out in the ER and they were quick to assess her and start a plan. The doctors and nurses were all caring and so friendly every time they stepped in her room. They kept me informed of her progress constantly. The nurses were awesome and would talk with us and take their time to make sure all needs were met.

My 4 year old grandson had oral surgery here. The nurses were amazing! He was so afraid. When they came to get us as he was coming out of anesthesia, I was so touched to find a nurse holding him and comforting him. He wasn’t just lying in the bed crying. I wish I had her name but I hope she sees this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for that act of compassion.

These people don’t care ! Worst er I been too
Been having blood out of both ends
Soon as I leave I have to make emergency stop
Yes blood in there again still pain in my stomach
Nurse told me to pee left me flat on my back sides up
I Laying flat and can’t move hooked up to all this monitor crap
I wouldn’t send my dog here

If you need a sports physical head over to the Putnam County Immediate Care Center. They charge $25 and it is pretty easy to get in and out.

I brought my boyfriend into the emergency room with severe back pain. They did absolutely nothing to try to diagnose the problem nor did they even physically look at his back. They did not want to try to investigate what could be the cause and only talked to him for about 5 minutes before they shuffled him out the door. It’s unacceptable that an er would do so little to try to diagnose the problem and treat it. Do not go here.
