My brother and I had the privilege of having David represent us in the selling of our parents cabin in Monte Rio this summer. The cabin was older with some remodeling and some areas of needed work. He was very honest and straight forward about his opinion of market value, what items needed to be accomplished in order to market the home and very careful and through with disclosures. We greatly appreciate that he not only cared about what was best for us as his sellers, but also about the parties purchasing the property. David knows the Russian River market very well and how to work with local banks to get things completed efficiently and effectively. This is my first Google+ review but I couldn't be more happy to do it for David Millar at Russian River Land and Home. After much thought my Wife and I decided to buy a home up in the Russian River. We actually started off on our own, looking at houses online and went to some open houses. We found a house we loved and were speaking directly with the listing agent. At one point we asked ourselves if we thought we even needed a Realtor to represent us. I realized though that not only was this our first home buying experience but we definitely didn't know the intricacies of the Russian River market. I looked around online and saw the positive reviews that David had so I gave him a call. Man am I glad I did.

David proved to be consultative, helpful, and just all around nice to deal with. He was patient with us as we wanted to compare other houses before pulling the trigger on the one we loved. David took me to multiple open houses, asked the listing agents great questions, and gave me insight on stuff at the houses that I never would have thought of. Ultimately we decided to go for the one we originally loved. David advised and helped us settle on a good competitive offer (didn't push me at all to go higher than I wanted to).

Offer accepted and David moved right into the paperwork. He explained everything and I was able to sign almost everything electronically which made it super easy to do from San Francisco. At one point our lender ended up delaying the process and David helped negotiate that with the sellers and their agent.

Through escrow David took me out the house a few times and even hung out longer than he probably wanted to so I could do the walk-throughs, take measurements for furniture, etc...

All in all David was a great partner and now looking back on our thought to maybe represent ourselves, we are so, so glad we made the choice to work with David.

David was amazing to work with and I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking for a home in the Russian River area! My wife and I were interested in getting a place up there to enjoy on weekends (and hopefully more, now that we are often working from home). After speaking with Dave to give him a sense of what we were looking for, he was regularly in touch with us when new listing arose, and was honest about which places were/weren’t quite what we were looking for. We ended up finding a place we loved much faster than expected, and David made the entire process seamless. He was available to answer any and all questions, and getting documents sent back and forth was a breeze. David really knows the area inside and out, and can tell you the pros/cons of all the little micro-communities and towns around the Russian River area. If you’re looking for a home up that way, he’s the guy to work with!

David made house hunting fun and he was very patient with us concidering we didn't really know what we wanted. We were shown a good variety of houses to help us figure out what we did want. He is extremely knowledgable about Sonoma county and has every possible resource at his finger tips. The entire process was made easy because he did pretty much everything for us and explained everything in great detail whenever we had questions or didn't understand parts of the process. David is very responsive as well. We never had to wait for a response whenever we contacted him. He has also checked in with us many times after closing on the house to make sure we are happy and offer more assistance if needed. My wife and I could not have had a better home buying experience! I highly recommend David to anyone who wants to buy or sell a house in his area.

Two years ago we happened to drive through Guerneville on our way back from visiting friends. Immediately, it felt like home, so much so that we reached out to local realtors to inquire about the housing market. David Millar was the first to get back to us, and his friendliness and professionalism put us at ease. Over a period of about a month, David showed us several houses; he was patient and listened to what we wanted. He found us our dream home, a creekside cedar cabin on half an acre, and that was it, we were in love. I cannot recommend David highly enough and will absolutely work with him again next time I’m in the market in the Russian River area. He checks the boxes you would expect from a great agent: his knowledge of the market is impressive, his connections within the community are extensive, and his ability to spot (and solve) issues is amazing. But beyond that, he made the home-buying process about as easy as it could be. He helped us connect with the right lender for the type of property we were buying and, when the escrow encountered delays, he smoothed things over with the seller’s agent to get the deal done.

David was helpful beyond the narrow bounds of the purchase. He was able to recommend vendors, contractors, and inspectors. Without being asked, he provided helpful information and advice I wouldn’t necessarily expect from an agent but which saved me a lot of time and stress– e.g., he sent a concise email laying out who to contact for phone, internet, gas, electrical, trash and water services, and was able to provide specific additional advice for a couple of these.

Throughout the process he was detail-oriented, a great (and proactive) communicator, always available and, as other reviewers have noted, patient. Last, but certainly not least, David impressed me as a scrupulously honest agent, and someone I can trust. An easy 5 stars.

David and his team are amazing! He totally and immediately understood what we were looking for in a vacation and future retirement house, and with great patience and guidance showed us many homes. He was so good at it, that I wanted to buy at least half of the ones he showed us. Luckily, he was honest and clear about the pitfalls in each home and the benefits of each. He took us through one offer + inspection, and was completely clear that the house would be a disaster if the owner did not fix a major retaining wall. That was not going to happen, so we got out of escrow and into our search once more. The second one was a charm, and actually my dream come true. We did a quick three week escrow with proper inspection and negotiation for necessary repairs and assurances. Viola! I moved in a little more than a week ago and could not be happier.

Thank you David, for making this a fantastic experience that will give our family joy for a very long time.

(P.S. I should add that I live in LA now, and he was able to help us on two different full weekends of looking, and he took videos of places on the market in the interim. He also was at each of the two homes to help the inspector get in and also for David to take a good hard look at each place. )
