I initially chose Dr. Salins based on the excellent reviews, and I agree that he and his staff are generally kind and professional. However, my experience was impacted by several issues throughout the treatment. In the second half of the treatment, my upper central incisors were not moving as expected. I noticed that the aligners had space there, and I was informed by the staff that these teeth weren’t progressing as they should, but Dr. Salins assured me not to worry.

After two years of treatment, Dr. Salins addressed the misalignment by shaving down one of my central incisors without my explicit consent, which was concerning. Even now, two years later, that tooth remains noticeably more rough and blunt compared to my other teeth. Other options, such as allowing for slight misalignment at the gum level or increasing the smaller tooth through bonding, were not discussed to avoid shaving a healthy tooth.

Additionally, I had to visit three times to have all of my attachments fully removed, during which my teeth acquired several noticeable grooves and scratches.

Finally, while my teeth look great cosmetically, my bite has an ongoing issue—I now feel pressure on my canines when biting, whereas previously, it was always on my molars. This has led to discomfort, and my dentist has pointed out pressure cracks in those teeth. Despite Dr. Salins’ assurance that this would improve over time, two years have passed without any significant change. While I believe the issue might resolve if I stopped wearing retainers, this carries the risk of undoing the orthodontic treatment altogether.

Given these issues, I am seeking a second opinion to address the ongoing bite problem. While the office environment is pleasant and the staff is kind, these complications have significantly affected my overall experience.

Dr. Salins is the best orthodontist. He cares so much about his patients and is highly skilled at what he does. I got my braces here in 2015 and his work was miracle work - I never expected my smile to turn out as great as it did thanks to Dr. Salins!
