I was lied to.
Rented a property out from them and noticed that there was NOTHING done to prepare the property for a new tenant to move in. Not only was it not inspected, it was completely dirty, smelly, and many things broken like plumbing and electrical, etc.
On top of that, they didn't communicate or reply to my maintenance requests and even performed maintenance on a sump pump (apparently, could also be a lie) without my permission to where they soiled the carpet and left me with an expensive surprise to clean up at my own cost. Also left me with unsafe playground equipment, and the smoke alarms weren't up to code. The property was in complete disarray and they still thought it was ok to start renting it to me.

Management with this company is beyond awful and sketchy. I applied for a unit, and when I toured it they told me it was already rented, but the smaller one next door was available. I took it. They continued to advertise the occupied, bigger unit for months after on various rental sites. When I agreed to taking the smaller unit, there was no A/C unit, no fridge, and no oven racks. I was told these would be there by the time I moved in two weeks later. The fridge was brought in, but did not work. The A/C and oven racks were not put in for multiple weeks after my move in. I was also told the unit was wifi ready with a coax outlet. Upon further inspection, this was false and I had to get one installed. Most times I needed something fixed, such as that refrigerator, they would just tell me they fixed it when they clearly did not. After weeks of back and forth, that fridge was replaced to one that did work, but the freezer would get too cold no matter what I tried and would legitimately snow and ice itself all the time. In the first two weeks of moving in, I had two separate plumbing issues that prevented me from being able to take a shower. When the A/C unit did finally come in, they installed it with an extension cord that went all the way to the other side of the room (a fire hazard) because the closest outlet did not function and never got fixed. The only time they did do anything was when legal action was threatened, and even then the action taken by them was the bare minimum. I never got a key to my mailbox no matter how many times I asked for one, there was never a smoke detector in my unit (which is fully illegal), my lease was prematurely labeled as “ended” within the first week of moving in, they had to send over 5 different leases because they kept getting the agreed-upon terms wrong. Every instance of contact with these people was sketchy and confusing at best. Do not trust these people. Do not rent with these people.

By far the worse Property management in history!!! Complete Crooks!!! I wish I could give them negative 5 stars.

Bret Baron and Kate Fey of Baron Property Management should be Sued and shut down. They have been trying to make people pay for preexisting damages and neglect of their properties once you move in. Poor Maintenance and terrible repairs, if any. Falsifying documents in order to cover their scams. Threatening tenants with eviction, if they don’t pay for damages that were already there before move in. 🛑 DO NOT RENT THROUGH THEM!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT, just like a colleague of mines.

I would not recommend renting with this property management company. They never come and fix anything, they come out and look and then set a date to come back and they never do. My outlets in my living room have been out since almost April, my floor is cracking in certain places and they never came back to fix it after setting a date and time to do so. The water pressure in the shower in my first bathroom is trash. They repeatedly cancel our maintenance requests, we can never reach them by the phone half of the time. I could go on and on, but to summarize it up, I don’t recommend renting here. Unfortunately I will be calling the better business bureau this week.

I DEFINITELY would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. I do, however, promise to upload everything that has happened with this company. How most people give you some of the details, I will provide very tedious documentation to support everything I'm going to post so that you will ABSOLUTELY not have to 2nd guess as to why you do not want to risk it. This company has not let me down yet, they are always helpful with any request that I may have. I had major contentions with my previous management company when a frozen pipe burst leaving my tenants business inoperable for nearly 6 weeks before the damage was repaired. Getting a hold of anyone at the previous company was a nightmare but when I pick up the phone to call South Bend Management, I am always promptly greeted on the first attempt. I do not feel like I am being dodged or avoided. Keep up the great work, Rachel went above and beyond to help with my situation last week. Harmon Inc. plans to continue this relationship as long as the excellent communication is maintained! Thank you!!

I'm really pleased with my new home/apartment at Eddy Lofts and the management company has been awesome! I have lived here for two months so far, and from the very beginning Luna has been extremely responsive and patient with all of my questions! And Braxton from the maintenance team has been terrific in responding to my requests and coming up with creative solutions to tweak some little fixes for the shelving, etc. He also was very understanding and a great listener regarding taking a look at a couple parking and site issues, which he said he would bring up at the company meeting. I learned about all of the physical improvements that were done to the building in the last few years and I really think they did a great job! New double paned windows, which provide such great insulation and sound barrier that I barely hear any traffic from Eddy street! Amazing! They refinished the original hardwood floors, new tile flooring in the kitchen and bathroom (matching tile walls in shower), new cabinets, sinks and fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom, granite counters, new appliances... beautiful landscaping at the main entry with bike racks and even has a doggy grass area with bags and disposal bin. It's a lovely place to call home! And the tenants who live in the building are very pleasant and respectful and it's nice and quiet here. Even though pets are allowed here, the walls and floors are so sound proofed you can't even hear if there is any barking or anything... amazing! And my cat really loves it here and has windows in every room that he can look out of and there is a lovely view of sunsets from the western windows! I love it!
