This apartment is pretty to look at. You will freeze to death unless you put your heater on 80 or higher. Air comes in through the windows and doors. The appliances do not work well. The washer and dryer does not clean nor dry clothes. My electric bill was $300 for only living there 2 weeks. Good luck if you rent an apartment on the first floor. Oh and my apartment flooded when it rained.

I am disappointed in the way this property has declined. For a "luxury" property, you think you're paying for exceptional units and appliances, location, amenities and security but that has not been my experience here. The cabinets are made of particle board, my refrigerator freezes everything and my ice maker hasn't worked for over a year (I put in work orders and I'm told that it's the model of the appliance and nothing can be done), I pay a premium for a courtyard view and can't even see the courtyard bc all the plants are overgrown (see pics), there's never any coffee, specifically Starbucks, even though there is a Starbucks sign and now a stranger mistakenly walked into my apartment with a master fob claiming to be filling in for his brother. I don't feel comfortable or safe here and it's quite alarming that someone can be given a master key and not be an employee with a background on file just bc you were short handed. I was given an empty apology no reassurance that anything would improve.

We have had a great experience so far. Megan has been responsive and our move in day went better than we had anticipated. Austin with maintenance was able to show us to our unit and talk us through logistics when we arrived with a U-Haul. We are on the 4th floor and the elevator worked the entire time with no major hold ups. We have been given a packet of information that covered many details and emails have followed our move in with even more information. We have found it to be pretty quiet these last few days since arriving. Parking is not a major issue. Yes, sometimes we have to park further back but we understand this is a large complex with many residents. Our unit was very clean when we arrived for move in, had new bedroom carpet installed, fresh walls, nice blinds, and appeared move in ready. Trash pick up has been simple and consistent. We look forward to our time here.

This place stole my furniture. it was in an apartment that they revoked my access to and then they coated my furniture with mold spores and stopped letting me even go in there because I took these photos. 8 years of memories around that table and overnight it was gone.
Despite their response, a regional manager has NOT reached out to me, and their response doesn't even address the mold issue.
Horrible place to live. Moldy apartments, leaky windows, ZERO sound proof floors, bent doors, dirty halls. Awful staff. Serious water damage inside the walls that even the corporate staff said they had "no idea" what was causing it.
They had to move us out moldy apartment 438 and tried rushing us to get everything packed and out in less than a week into an apartment 334 with MORE of THE EXACT SAME damages as well, and probably mold in the walls too. Maintenance crew is severely under staffed and have no idea what they're doing. They had to have their corporate come out to cut INTO the wall to find that the PLYWOOD was SOAKED and we had been living in a moldy apartment for 8 months, because we pressed them over and over despite being told it was "gunk". We had to get the health department involved, it was so bad.
When we moved (had to downgrade because they didn't have anymore units like ours), a single weekend wasn't fast enough for the property manager, and she tried to get us to get it all out "in the next couple of hours" , nevermind that we just had to move out. Couple across the hall were offered a second unit, but were REQUIRED TO PAY A SECOND DEPOSIT? THEIR UNIT WAS DAMAGED, AS WAS 2ND!
The Property Manager, Randez Taylor, straight up will not speak with me at this point. I practically begged her to come listen to the noise from above me and she wouldn't get out from behind her desk.
After calling FLCO in Indianapolis and laying into them, she refuses to apologize for lying to me about the inspection in the unit. I was told she would reach out "soon" to apologize.
Now she is trying to strong arm us into leaving in the next 30 days or pay penalties for breaking our lease. She's LYING trying to say I agreed.
The office worker, Sarah, rolls her eyes at you if their mold is causing you distress.
Bugs, mold, and bad construction. Welcome to The Banks!
Other things to note:
2 guest limit which is laughable
elevator that is in serious need of a looking over: sometimes, it's stop on your floor but doesn't open, just waits, then continues on its path to the next floor, sometimes it's frozen and just BANG "fixes itself".
Balcony doors SLAM open against the railing, and have no track to slow them down. You can't actually sit with the balcony open without propping it, so they're essentially pointless, and just tacked on rent.
The furnace rooms are all locked, which seems dangerous, knowing now that what their filters look like. The filters are not changed enough (maybe once every 3 months).
The dryer vents were COVERED outside so all of the buildings vents not properly ventilating and were just BLOWING into the walls, raising humidity and increasing mold.
Our "new" unit was "inspected" before we moved in, only then it wasn't according to another worker. The property manager is just straight up lying to our faces now. No one ever walked into this unit, and we were told it had been empty for a while.
Today, we found fresh water damage from inside our walls that is now bubbling the drywall into our apartment. Turns out they mounted the towel rack to a water pipe.
The floors are paper thin. Our upstairs neighbor has kids and we hear them constantly. It is every hour of the day, see the attached video. You may not hear your next door neighbor, but you will hear the ones above you, it's so bad my plates rattle in my cabinets constantly, all day every day.
I am now experiencing sleep loss symptoms because of their noise, Both of my dogs have started having anxiety issues and are eating their tails and butts because of the banging.
Imagine spending every waking hour listening to that banging. That is LITERALLY my reality.

I moved into the banks over a year ago and signed an 18 month lease.
The time I was there, myself and my children very much enjoyed it. The pool was well cared for and beautiful, and the area around it was as well. The gym was clean with new equipment, and at least 3 flat screen tvs, and was well lit and well maintained. The mail room is really neat… it’s a room full of PO Boxes and you get a key to your mailbox with your apartment fob. Packages go into an adjacent room and I never had any issues locating my orders.
The apartments are labeled as “luxury”, and with good reason. They are pricey, but you know that going into your lease so it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone complaining about the price. Most people know what they can afford for housing.
With almost 1200sf, my children and I were able to spread out and not be on top of one another non stop. The ceilings are very high and the apartment was very bright with natural light, and had window treatments on every window. I have a 14yo who is an avid gamer, and he could be hollering at the top of his lungs through his headset, and I wouldn’t hear anything at all from my bedroom. I sometimes heard my upstairs neighbors walking around, but the sound wasn’t anything a white noise machine wouldn’t cancel out. There is also a porch with enough room for a small table and chairs, and I never had any issues with water pouring in from that outside door, or the door slamming shut.
I had 2 bathrooms, one in the master which was “mine” and the kids were able to share another one which I was very grateful for, as they’re still young and very messy. The kids bathroom had a full size tub which was great for my 4yo’s baths, and there was plenty of storage in each bathroom for rugs, towels, toilet paper etc. The master bath had a full size walk-in shower, and a ton of storage in addition to built in shelving as well.
I had a walk in closet attached to my bathroom which I greatly, greatly miss! That closet was so big you could set up a little nursery in it and still have room to walk around freely.
The kitchen is massive with beautiful, high, granite counter tops and all units come equipped with a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and oven. There is also a utility closet with a washer dryer included.
The entire time I was there I never had any issues. My garbage disposal stopped working and they fixed it the same day I said something about it. I had 3 “inspections” while I was there. I passed two and failed one… the one I failed I had been traveling for work for a while and just hadn’t been around to put the place in order. I apologized for my mess and the office was very kind and understanding about it. My third inspection my place was clean but cluttered, but I passed. The point of this is that they’re very human about cleanliness expectations and I don’t think anyone should have any problems in passing those. They give you ample notice as well before entering your apartment.
There is a dumpster centrally located in the parking lot of the complex that you can take your trash to. However, they also come straight to your door 5 days a week to collect your garbage which you can’t beat.
I never had any issues with the staff, and they were always responsive and kind whenever I entered the main building there.
Overall, I have nothing bad to say about the place. My kids and I very much enjoyed our time there and were sad to have to move out, but I recently lost my job and just couldn’t afford it any longer. They were incredibly understanding and kind about this as well. So, if you’re considering the banks as your new home, I say go for it! It’s definitely the nicest complex in the area, and you really do get what you pay for.

I have lived at The Banks 16 months now and I have no major complaints since getting new staff. The office staff now is fantastic and kind which is a huge improvement from when I moved in in 2023. They have been doing some painting and keeping the building cleaner. The new cleaning staff member, Aylssa, is doing a good job at keeping it looking clean and fresh during the week. It could use some upkeep on the weekends but this is a great start. The new maintenance staff has been responsive and great as well. I have no complaints but I also understand that there are certain struggles to be expected with apartment living like noise and parking. I have lived in other places in LaPorte and this is by far the best apartment living I have experienced. I love that I don't have to worry about maintenance issues, they take the trash out for me, it is a locked building, there is a gym, an amazing lobby I utilize often to study, a pool area, grills and the list goes on. I have no pets, but this is a great place for people with pets. One of my favorite things while I am studying in the lobby is seeing everyone and their dogs come through to go for walks. They also decorate for the seasons and have added a Starbucks drink machine in the lobby which is great! Another bonus is that it is so central, everything is nearby.

A lot of improvements have been happening around the complex and it's very nice to see! The new staff is awesome and super friendly, a much needed change. Shoutout to Megan, Aliyah, Alyssa and Jen! Love talking with them they are the sweetest! Thanks for all the efforts to make this a comfortable place to live! It's noticed! 🙂

Very beautiful place, just be very careful and tentative. They are very poor at communication and resolving issues at the property. So keep receipts(photos, emails, etc). After my one year lease I opted to do a six month instead of a whole year. Sent emails and even had calls letting them know I would be moving out on said date and everything seemed fine. 3 months after I move out, Literally out of no where I’m charged $2600 from collections ? I had no calls or emails saying anything about it. Also I paid the $2600 after calling the banks only to find out when I moved I failed to return the key fob so they treated it as if I was still staying there. Okay cool. What makes it even worse is I paid the $2600 off the same day of receiving the info, I paid them a visit about 2 weeks later(the only day that was convenient to do so) to ask them while returning the key fob if the balance was squared away they were somehow still showing a balance. I was asked to send receipt by email to confirm payment and someone would reach out letting me know they have received it and would update it in the system. It’s been a month now, no emails, phone calls letting me know they even received my email. I guess send another email and I’ll call again but maybe if I post the receipt here they’ll see it. Save your money and time and choose elsewhere, it’ll your best decision yet.
