I’ve rented from Meka for 3 years. She didn’t bother me and I didn’t bother her. Never had my apartment updated. It was cool for the first 2 years but she moves anybody in and they brought roaches, she bombed their apartment above me knocked out walls and everything for the apartments upstairs and “exterminated” mines downstairs and it did absolutely NOTHING!!! Roaches appeared everyday it was overwhelming and after I kept telling her that I keep seeing roaches she would send an exterminator out and the problem never ceased. I knew then that it was an infestation and I wanted to moved. Now it has been over a month and she still has not gave me my SECURITY DEPOSIT back and when I asked about it she told me she can take up to 45 days to give it back. It has now been 42 days and still no check sent out from her. There is no cameras on the building one of her tenants stole a 50” tv that was delivered to me in the hallway she was supposed to address it and I never heard anything else. She is very rude and now I’m seeing what everyone was saying when it is time to move that she was going to try everything she can not to pay back the deposit. I cleaned the apartment swept and vacuumed each room and took a video. She told me the apartment was dirty because I didn’t mop the floor. She now has me blocked from calling the direct line because it goes straight to voicemail when I call with my number then when I call from a different number it rings. She told me to stop calling her because her mom died and she didn’t have to answer the phone for me when I knew nothing about her mom I just was calling asking about my deposit, this is business and she involving me in personal things in her life. I will never rent from her again and I never had a slumlord but she definitely is making me a believer in what everyone has said about her and this problem started when I wanted to move due to not having enough space and the roaches put a rush on it I have a son and we can not live like that. I didn’t even know roaches still existed. My ending experience was horrible Meka definitely needs to take a customer service class she sucks at it..just give me my money and you don’t have to ever worry about me AGAIN!!! The pics are of multiple roaches I had to kill and that wasn’t even all of them and the pics of the apartment after I cleaned up and moved out and the floors she claims is so “UNBELIEVABLY” Dirty..smh

I’m renting from her now. And will be moving as of Friday 06/30/2023. I will be cleaning carpet when I move out. Because she has made it known that giving my security back is not of importance to her, When I tried to speak to her about it. My place is in the exact same way she rented it to me. When I asked for a walk through she said no. So I told her that I would be making a video. She told me to do whatever I felt like. Because “She’s very popular in East Chicago.” When I spoke to some people in the neighborhood about it. I was told that because she has so many properties in NWI. That she has Judges on speed dial. However, she do not know me. I love a good fight. I’m going all the way to the top. And it’s really not about the money for me. It’s about taking a stance. Here I come Judge Mathis.

Never rented from her never tried but I've seen how she treat people. This ladybird disgusting. She is a narcissistic and she thinks the people that rent from her are Beneath her. PLEASE DONT RENT FROM HER! east chicago needs to show her that being a slum lord and thilen spitting in the face of her tenants is a no go! She even told someone that giving her a security back is not hr priority she can wait until after her vacation! She is a lost soul and very disgusting as a woman. I feel sorry for her tenants and I feel sorry for her husband and children

Don’t rent from her. She is money hungry. She is not considerate like other landlords. She don’t want to wait for someone’s security deposit. She gives you two days to come up with your security deposit. I don’t see what’s the point of having her as part for someone to rent her properties.

They charged $200 painting fee, and. $50 cleaning fee when I cleaned the unit and waxed the floors they are money hungry and full of fraud and lies, the walls were not even dirty Meka is very unprofessional she never returns my phone calls, I have called her for weeks, left several messages and still no response, this is the worst slum lords ever, never fixed anything

I have been living on Alder St for eight years. Use to live in the Lincoln Building on Lincoln St 2007- 2012. I am from Chicago IL. I never experience anything like this before. My kids have Asthma and Allergies. The Landlord told me that it’s on my lease to clean the carpets! What lease? The one from 2012 doesn’t show about carpet cleaning. I complain about the bugs she said it’s my responsibility to spray my apartment. Also, the tenants above me play music late at night early in the morning she said she will speak with them about loud music! Unfortunately, the tenants above me don't seem to care. I call the police on them three times all they did was came down the stairs knock on my door I do not feel safe over here. No camera inside the building outside of the building. I'm to myself I do not mess with anyone but if it's disturbance she needs to do better then talk to the tenants above me. At times I can not sleep at night because of dust mites, loud music, people running up and down the stairs, stomping, bumping, etc. I wouldn't recommend anyone to move to the apartment on 138th Alder. Trust me you do not want to go through what I been through.

Unfortunately I been renting an apt for 3 years and only been late once, she is really unprofessional and rude. She needs to take a customer service class. I never will recommend anyone to do business with them. She will definitely lose business on the way she talks to her tenants. I dont appreciate her disrespect. I promise people dont know who u know and will make u not want to rent with anybody in this city.

She is the WORST landlord to EVER rent from in the ENTIRE city of East Chicago. She is a slumlord. When you report her to HUD she gets offended and gets a Nasty attitude with her tenants. Very RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL in all areas. People please READ these comments and take them into FULL CONSIDERATION because we is not just MAKING this stuff up.
