Never in my life have I encountered such a frustrating experience when attempting to withdraw **my** own money from **my** own account, an account clearly linked to **my** identification. As a loyal customer, I anticipate that even the most routine of transactions, like withdrawing cash, would proceed with the utmost transparency and respect.

The ordeal began when I requested to observe the teller, Lori, count out my money in front of me before I would even consider signing any paperwork. This is not only a reasonable request but one that ensures both the bank's and my own accountability. Did I touch the money before it was fully counted? No. Did I attempt to take the money prematurely? Absolutely not. My policy has always been clear: I will only sign after the cash is laid out before me, ensuring every bill is accounted for.

However, instead of receiving the expected professional service, I was met with an astonishing level of condescension and disrespect from Lori. She spoke down to me, belittled my request, and her tone was not only condescending but also incredibly dismissive. This behavior was not just unprofessional; it was outright disrespectful.

I am well-versed in banking procedures, having witnessed numerous transactions follow similar steps without any issues. The process is typically straightforward, ensuring both the customer's and the bank's security. Yet, today, this sanctity of a simple withdrawal was shattered, leaving me not only questioning the competence but also the integrity of those handling my hard-earned money.

This incident has left me with a profound sense of dissatisfaction, not just with the service but with the personal attack on my dignity as a customer. I demand assurance that such disrespectful conduct will not be repeated to me or to any other customer along with Transparency, respect, and professionalism are not just expected; they are essential in maintaining trust in banking services.

0 stars- I wish I could give negatives. The agents that verify automobile insurance are absolutely ridiculous- I just sat on the phone for 1 hour and 3 minutes arguing about having comprehensive insurance on my plan (which I did, but was being told I didn't.) I pulled up my declaration pages to again be told that I didn't have it even though I'm telling them the amount that I pay and the deductible amount. Insurance was purchased on my behalf for $3900 when I have not went a single day without insurance, then the agent acts like she's frustrated with me for being frustrated when I was correct the whole time. I despise this bank with every fiber of my being. It has always been a run around with them. I can't wait until July when I get to do it again!

Update 09/26

After speaking to the manager last week about my review I decided that everyone deserves a second chance, and this time the Ireland Branch did not disappoint. I went in this morning and was greeted by multiple people at the front teller line who were all ready to serve me. I was taken care of and was in and out in matter of minutes. I am very understanding that sometimes the first impression is not the best impression and they definitely showed me who they really are today! I will be back and I continue to enjoy my banking experience with United!

Usually I go to the Gumwood Rd. branch and I receive excellent service. However today I was on the south side of South Bend trying to make a deposit into my account in the Ireland Road branch. I realized this was a mistake as soon as I walked in, there was no one to greet me until I initiated contact with one of the Caucasian female bankers who was sitting down on the computer in her office alone. The female banker simply told me to be patient and someone would assist me and went right back to typing on the computer. I had a lot of cash on me and wanted to be helped quickly since I was the only person in the lobby. I ended up waiting in the lobby around 10 minutes. The two tellers were busy with other tasks as well as the other two bankers, however the banker on the computer did not attempt to leave her office to assist me. This is never the case in any of the other branches that assist me as almost everyone leaves their office to assist. At many points I really felt like I should have taken my money and went down to my other bank on the same road. Normally I feel valued when I bank with United, however today I did not feel valued.

I went into the Ireland road branch around 1:00 on Wednesday. My intention was to discuss the options for opening up a checking account and also transferring my funds to them from my primary banking institution. There was one teller assisting customers ahead of me. After waiting close to 15 minutes I had had enough. If my experience this afternoon with United Federal CU is indicative of their customer service then I am glad it happened before I made them my primary source for my banking needs.

Waited until I had gotten most of the way switched over from another institution as a new member, and then locked down my money and began denying transactions ex post facto, making it extraordinarily difficult to pay bills at exactly the time (mid-switch-over) when I was the most vulnerable. Then, they disabled my online banking and claimed that I (background in Comp. Sci.) would need to take my 7 computers and 5 mobile devices to GEEK SQUAD (no joke) at my expense, and send them a receipt before they'd enable it again.

I switched because I'd had a MILDLY bad experience with my old bank and wanted a better one. Never did I imagine the nightmare I was in store for. If you're currently banking elsewhere and considering United because you're unhappy there, do yourself a favor and imagine just how much worse it could possibly get. If you still decide to switch, go literally anywhere else.
